Tether Win7 netbook to XP desktop?

I have a Windows 7 (Starter) netbook and a Windows XP (Home Premium) desktop. The desktop does not have any wifi devices, and I don't want to get any. My netbook does, however. Would there be any way to connect the 2 with an ethernet cable so my desktop would get Internet through my netbook?

If you open the start menu and search "Network and sharing center", you will open a screen where in the middle you can "Set up a new connection". Click it, and from there a new wizard pops up. Scroll down and look for "Ad-hoc". You should be able to pick it up from there.

    Good luck!

EDIT: I just read that you want a wired connection D: [BRB]

    EDIT2: Okay, try this:

First, establish a network connection between your two computers.

From your laptop, click the Wi-Fi icon on the lower right of the taskbar. Right click the internet connection your connected to, click status, then click properties (this requires admin rights).

On the Sharing tab, check "Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection".

Check your desktop's connection and verify conectivity to the internet.

I was about to say, "that's still wireless..." It's nice to know someone is trying to help, thanks!

In "Properties," I only have one tab that's labeled "Networking."

Yes, but I can't keep my desktop next to my router.

All you need is a longer cable.
