    internet is sloooooooooooooooow!!!

my internet connection at home is incredibly slow at the moment. i have adsl2 on optus.

i had thought it was because of the isp, but at the moment i'm using free wifi at maccas and its still very slow... this makes me think it's probably an issue with the computer.

does anyone have any ideas for me. lol

Some internet providers use very poor DNS servers try another DNS server some good one's are
    Google Public DNS
    https://store.opendns.com/get/basic
    Secure DNS

Another option if you have a slow internet connection is to use the Opera browser it has a Turbo mode for speeding up slow connections it works by compressing the web page on the Opera servers .

The web is a bit slow all over. Lots of packet losses too.

Be specific - slow download speed or sluggish to respond when you enter or click an address/link? Run one of the speedtests online and compare the result with your internet package. If the result shown is slow as compared to that, lodge a complaint with the ISP. If it's the same or close then the ping may be high and it is an issue with their servers or line - best to speak with them. You can try Google or Open DNS as suggested by Stve. This will help if you don't have speed or ping issues. I personally am using Google DNS.

You could try a torrent accelerator, haven't used them my self, my problem isn't speed its having no space left on my hard drive.
Suggest you search for torrent accelerator on Google & do some research.

Torrents are slow means your ISP is throttling. Try encryption in your client (google it) or use a VPN like BTGuard. Reinstall your network card drivers and see if there is any difference in speed. Speed problems are usually dealt with by the ISP and the problem is pretty much always at their end.

well, it turns out that there was a problem with the phone line, the rain had corroded the box from the wires to the house so finally the phone stopped working completely aswell.. had someone come and fix it today and now the net is back up to 12mbps...

and on top of that using opera with the turbo mode aswell. all good. thanks for your help guys :)
