    Another network printer query!

I am trying to set up my printer to be a network printer, unsuccessfully so far!

    Firstly, details of my setup...

One desktop PC running Windows 7 Home Edition
One laptop also running Windows 7 Home Edition
My modem is a Thomson TG782T
My printer is an Epson STYLUS Photo RX610

I currently print by swapping the printers USB cable to either my desktop or the laptop, no problems.

My desktop is cabled to the modem, my laptop is wireless.
My modem has a USB port, to which I can successfully plug in a USB memory stick, and use from both the PC and the laptop.

I have tried plugging the printer USB cable into the modem and, in Control Panel, installing a new printer using 192.168.1.253 address.

The printer appears to have installed ok, but all attempts to print to it have been unsuccessful.

If anyone has any tips on resolving the problem I would appreciate it!

    Thanks
    Chris

    Thank you,

I followed all that and it still doesn't work I'm afraid.
The printer appears to be there but reports a communication error when I attempt to print to it.
Not a big issue, I'll go back to swapping the USB cable for now.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

Finally solved my problem networking my printer via my modem.

A friend suggested that my laptop would support Windows 7 64bit, and some research proved that this was true.

Once Windows Home premium 64bit was installed on both my laptop and the two desktops at home, I tried the process suggested by Zepher, and everything now works perfectly!

    Thanks once again!
