    Sporatic internet problems

I don't know if anyone here can help me, but here goes a shot.

For some months, I've had internet disconnections. The pattern is, for a week it will be fine, but then it'll disconnect, more often. It's temporarily fixed when a tech guy comes over and replaces the modem/checks wires/etc. So far, I've had 2 tech guys come over and they both checked the box outside my house and my internet dsl company, hickory tech, has replaced the port in their office last week on Monday, but I had disconnections on friday, saturday, and sunday.

I don't believe it has to do with the router. It has disconnected without the router. My router was a tomato usb one and the connection was running stable with the router for over a month before the problems began.

I plan to get a tech guy today to check the wiring inside the house and modem replaced. If the connection still disconnects, I have to see if a electrician can check more in depth, the wires.

So, I ask if there's any tests I could do with my system or if you think there's something wrong with windows 7 64 bit professional.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I would try to connect another computer directly to a router, and to the modem, see if you're able to replicate the issue. If issue persist, then it's either the Modem or your ISP.

I did that before and it disconnected.

So far, the tech guy put a phone filter because he said I should have had one on the line before(however, it was strange that it didn't disconnect in the past 2 years without one) and now I'm just monitoring to see if any other problems occur. No disconnections happened after he had left.

I've had the modem replaced over 2 times.

Another disconnection. Called my isp and they said they'll call back within a day to inform me of their decision on what to do next.

Btw the disconnections happen in the afternoon/evening/night. The tech guy that came on Mon. said the wires are good as well. Sometimes, I feel there's a slight disconnection (it doesn't fully disconnect but it pauses for a second and resumes normal connectivity)

    Bump.

My house uses daisy chain connection so a tech guy installed a direct a to z line for the dsl. However, I'm still getting disconnections. Tomorrow I am going to have the other computer run a stream and see if it will disconnect during some radio stream as well.

My connection fluxuates between 1.7 to 5 mb on speedtest.net. I have the 6 mb service.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do next? I already sent in another ticket for monday.

I have no suggestion, but if I had done all that you have and not found the problem at my end, I would tend to suspect the ISP, and would stay on their back.
