Live Mesh solutions does NOT leave your file on the cloud!

I still believe Mesh is the solution, IF you follow my instructions.

You will have a folder called, for example, MeshFolder on computer #1 and you will have folder called MeshFolder on computer #2. If you put a file into MeshFolder on one of the computers, and it will appear or sync in the MeshFolder on the second computer.

NEITHER THE FOLDER OR THE FILES WILL RESIDE ON MICROSOFT'S CLOUD!

If I am reading your post correctly, this is what you want. You have a large file on computer one. You put it into a folder on computer one. The file appears in a folder on computer two. That is all! The folder and the file are NOT anywhere else except on YOUR computers. They are NOT on any other server, not on the "cloud".

If this is not what you want, then I have read your request wrong.

nolakenoforest,

I'll look into that , but I'm not sure I want synced folders.. I already have a folder that holds my files, I don't want them to also show up in a synced folder (twice the space).. Plus, if either side deletes their file locally, does it delete on the other end?

Remote desktop logs out the current user, so I can't use that..

How can I set up a folder to have FTP access? I can ftp in remotely and upload/download to that folder..

Syncing with Live Mesh

If you are using Mesh, you need to install software on each computer. Nothing happens until the software is running. But, you are right. Delete a file on one computer and it deletes on the other (if the software is running.)

computer to computer ftp

Type the title (computer to computer ftp) into google search. There seems to be an endless amount of options. Take your pick.
