Hi Marshall, welcome to the forums.

Does this happen with ALL torrent as I have had the same issue recently but I managed to pin it down to bad seeds & seeds dropping out.

Best way to test is to try a torrent that has an silly amount of seeds, but 1 that you know is healthy/real.

ok to address both helpers i have a dlink wbr-1310 router, bellsouth which is at&t now, normal windows 7 firewall. no anti-viral programs.

it happens to all torrents i walked away from my computer and then came back about 20 minutes or so and i tried to play the itunes sharing thing and it wouldnt play so i had to go to my netbook and disconnect and reconnect

Have you tried resetting your router? Some ISP's send updates down the line (with no notification) and it can cause slowdown or even periodic disconnection. I had to reset the GF mum's router which worked like a charm.

I had almost the same problem before and i found a number on the admin page of my router that sets how often the ip changes. It vas set to 2 hours and i changed it to the maximum (about 2000 h). That solved my problem.
