Yeah I have gone through all the step you have told me..
Homegroup won't help me because it require that both machines should running on Win 7, and I have win xp and win 7 on each machine.
Secondly, I tried to Install that Hotfix thing.. But as I m using Win Xp SP3, it stopped the installation and said that 'no update required, the OS is upto date'

Please be sure and check these settings:
Quote:
network set as Home or Work (not public)
All systems on same IPv4 network segment, and member of same workgroup.
Firewall set to allow sharing
network discovery and file and printer sharing both on
Identical username on all systems and at least one folder shared using advanced sharing
Password controlled sharing is optional but recommended

The only difference I see is the subnet mask.

On the last one it's 255.255.255.0.
On the first one it's 255.0.0.0

Not sure if that's significant or not but I would change it to 255.255.255.0
