networking

Hi everyone. I am trying to access a file from another pc , which i have Ubuntu 11.04 installed. I recorded a tv show and I would like to watch it on the Windows 7 machine.
I can see the Ubuntu machine and I can see the folder tv shows, but I cannot open the folder. I continue to receive the error message" access denied". I have tried the user name and password for sister5091(Windows 7 pc);I have tried the user name and password for ubuntu; and I have adjusted the network and sharing console and still no luck. I am uploading a screenshot of the problem. I am at a lost. Can someone please help me. Any assistance will be appreciated. deanie

Set up vsftpd on your Ubuntu machine, add the windows machine i/p to the /etc/hosts file then login via ftp from the windows machine and ftp the file down to it. It will run better as a file on the windows machine rather than over the network.

XP to 7 Networking
I set up my 7 machine on an XP network. The 7 machine sees the shared folders, and I can get to them with no problem. When I try to look at the 7 machine from the XP side, it asks for a user name and password. I never set one up, because I would like to run an open network. (I live a mile down a...
