    Unidentified Network

    Hi Guys.

I am relatively new to win7. I am trying to connect a windows 7 Professional 64 bit machine to a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit machine for the purpase of gaming. For some reason my network says unidentified network and I cannot pick up the other pc on any game. I do however have access to file sharing between the 2 pcs. I have tried many fixes online, but to no avail.

I have set the ipv4 to 192.168.100.101 on my pc(windows 7 Professional 64 bit) and 192.168.100.100 on the other. I have changed the network types to private on both pcs. Firewalls are disabled and we removed our anti virus programs incase it was the cause.

    Could anybody please help?

    Welcome to SF,

It's a little diff. Subnet '192.168.100.101'. Is this the DHCP Scope that you have setup in your Router?

Is this a wired or wireless issue?

What is the make/model of your router?

Have you tried changing the Static IP Assigment to DHCP and see if this would work?

    Thank You.

I dont have a router. It is a direct connection using a standard lan cable; so this is a wired connection. I have not yet tried a wireless connection. My static IP addresses are 192.168.100.100 and 192.168.100.101 and my subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 on both pcs. I tried the DHCP setting but the result is still the same.

Do you have Bonjour installed from iTunes? That will sometimes cause an uniidentified network. Disable it.
