dynamic IP question

Hi guys. I have a question about dynamic IPs. Well, to start. I don't want the DHCP server JUST for my computer to not renew the lease on the IP address. Secondly, I want to know if what I just asked is possible or not? (yea, LOL)

So you are saying if I want my IP to change every day. (that's when the lease expires) It would be for all the computers on the network. And If I wanted to do this, would it affect their browsing experience?

Well, i'm saying that I want the lease to expire. I don't want it to renew.

A DHCP lease is normally for 24 hours so it gets renewed every day. It very seldom changes the IP address though as it usually reassigns the same one.

Sorry, I missed your last post. I'll see what I can find about not having a lease automatically renew.

Mind if I ask why you want to do this? If you want to keep the same IP just assign fixed IP addresses.

Yea I don't mind sharing why I want it to change every day. I don't like how I keep getting firewalled from my website. I normally have 6-7 tabs up and I got firewalled the other day.

If it's from your router, then it most likely is in the range of 192.168.xxx.xxx
and people on the outside of your router normally don't see your internal IP

Most ISP's give out an IP based on their own policy and unless you have some agreement with them will end up giving you the same IP when you renew.

Your PC has to have an IP for it to communicate with the internet and you have to use a gateway in order to get out to the internet.

Does that mean the site is not allowing into the web pages because of your IP??

If you are using a Router, it really has the IP that your ISP issues and you are using it via Network Address Translation (NAT) which means that the router knows who you are internally and translates your information requests out to the internet.

I hope this was not too confusing or convoluted..

Firewalled is when the linux firewall (if installed to a linux webserver) detects that you have too many connections to the server at once and it blocks incomming connections from the person's IP. All I really want is to change my IP, and control when it changes.
