WIFI Internet - Internal works, external doesn't
Morning all
I've googled this and found heaps of people having the same issue, but nothing that actually resolves it. I'm using a laptop with internal wifi but I also have an external wifi dongle as I connect to my neighbours internet (I have permission and the passwords, etc). Both the internal and external used to work fine and both would have internet connection. But something recently has changed and now the internal wifi still works with both network and internet connection, but the external one only has network connection and no internet connection.
The reason I use the external one is it gives much better signal strength than the internal one and, as said, both used to work just fine.
Now I've tried uninstalling the external drivers and dongle and reinstalling it but no dice. I've tried doing the netsh stuff people have recommended in some of the search pages but no dice. Tried release and renew of IP, but no dice. I've disabled all firewalls but no dice (and I figure the firewalls would stop both connections anyway but I thought I'd try it)
My internal card uses Atheros drivers and my external uses the Ralink drivers (I'm going from memory now as it's at home and I'm now at work). Both have IPs to the network, everything looks similar for both when you do an ipconfig /all.
Does anyone know how to fix it and the low signal strength of my internal wifi to get internet is rather flakey unless I stand outside their home (they've offered to set me up a chair, LOL). As said, the external one gives good signal strength and I connect to the network, just not internet, so I'm taking that the card is still working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been annoying me for a while now.
Thanks!
