Windows 7 breaking WLAN
Some background: I have 7 machines at home all connected to a wireless router. Up to yesterday everything was going smooth (as it should).
What happened: I just bought a new PC, and the first thing i did was a fresh, clean install of windows7. The problem is that as soon as i turn its wireless card on, the WLAN drastically drops.
I am sure it is not a configuration problem on the card: i checked and rechecked (a while ago i had a similar problem when i made a wireless card of another computer work as access point - so i even checked that possibility) but nothing was out of place.
The thing is that my WLAN speed is around 30~40MB in speedtest.net and as soon as i turn on that particular wireless card it drops below the 500k mark. I turned it off and it goes to 30~40 again.
I am no computer newbie, and i spent more than 4 hours last night goingh through EVERYTHING i could remember, but i just can't seem to find a solution.
I tried everything i could remember in order to solve the problem (checking and re-checking IP adress clashes, install different drivers were the first things i did but to no avail. I even made package testing on the WLAN traffic - maybe some process was making some weird DOS on the router - but it as also a no go: no packages were even being transmitted/received by that card. I googled it, turned off ipv6, turned off tcp autotunning, NOTHING worked). Maybe it was a "strange" background process screwing up the network: I killed-tested every process. Still nothing.
Oh, also, my network card was the one i had in the old PC. I just transferred it to the new one, so it can't be that: I tested the card in every other PC and there was nothing wrong. Only that particular computer/installation caused the problem, so I am pretty sure it is some sort of bad configuration of any sort , but I ran out of ideas. I need your desperate help
