I appreciate your pitching in and trying to help, but given that I have disabled the cabled connection to one of the computers and connected it to the router over Wi-Fi and I still can't see it, that eliminates the hub.

So I powered off my laptop and left for a long weekend. I powered it back up when I returned home, having made no changes, and it could once again see all the other computers in the network. I have concluded that network discovery does not always discover everyone. No idea why.

Laptop keeps dropping wired connection in favour of wireless.
I "dock" my laptop by using it like a desktop PC - it's connected to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse, and is connected to the router by a good old-fashioned network cable so that I get the best possible speed out of my internet connection. I sometimes un-dock it to use it elsewhere in...

Wired PC getting half the downstream speed as wireless laptop
I'm hoping someone has some insight into this problem, as it's got me stumped. Comcast recently doubled my Blast! speeds from 30/6 (I'm guessing at the old speed tier) to 50+/10+ Mbps. After rebooting my less-than-a-month-old Motorola SB6121 modem and my Trendnet TEW-633GR router, I ran a speed...

Wired vs Wireless network, is wireless safe.
I generally don't have a need to network computers together. In fact if I do network in my home it will be for only one purpose and would prefer to have the network down 99.99% of the time. I can run the lines needed to connect these two computers but wireless would be easier to get going. I...

Hello, I have had a Acer Aspire 5742-6814 for a month or so now. Yesterday it suddenly would not connect to the wireless network in my apartment and won't connect to a wired network either. It says that the wireless drivers are up to date and it just stopped working out of nowhere. I tried...

Win 7 Laptop Wired Connects - Wireless Doesnt
I'm having a bit of a strange problem with a laptop running Win 7 RC3 32bit. The wireless G connection works just fine for almost all things, but it won't connect with a server on our LAN. The connection times out. We've tried http, ssh, and ftp. The weird part is the laptop connects to the...
