Sharing a folder on a Windows 7 Home Premium OS

Afternoon all,

I need to know if the following is possible so that I can attempt this myself?

Wireless network/Workgroup

2 Laptops both running Win7 Home Premium (Call these laptop1 and laptop2)

LT1 has a folder that needs to be shared (shared folder1) so that the user on LT2 can connect and use/update files in said folder (shared folder1).

There is a few more wireless laptops in the workgroup, so the folder on LT1 needs to be secure, access only granted to 1 local user on LT1 and the physical user on LT2 (Which I take it will also need a local user account on LT1?)

Can somebody tell me if this can be done at all?

If so I will give it a go with what I think and how it can be done.

And then post up either way whether I could do it or not.

Windows 7 Prof. x64

in my opinion u can do this by
rightclicking on the folder > sharing > advanced Sharing
there u mark "share this folder"
and then u click on permissions where u have to add the laptop/user

i would have tried out but my Laptop is available right now, but this should work.

Cheers for the reply mowh,

I'll give this ago, when you say add the laptop/user, do you mean the local user which is on the same laptop as the shared folder (LT1)? As I need the user from the second laptop (LT2) to access this folder on the first laptop (LT1), should I just create identical users and passwords for both laptops?

Issue area: Mixed-network file sharing with Windows 7 Home Premium
Is it possible with the non-W7 machine's shares set to something besides "guest access allowed"? I've tried a few tweaks on my Windows 7 desktop and my Kubuntu 11.04 Linux-running laptop. Nothing has worked. Unless access to a shared directory is set to guest on the laptop, the Windows box keeps...
