share an USB sticker on a network router

    Hi.

I have got a new router here.

    Zyxel P-2812HNU-P1

    It has USB on it.

How do I share an USB sticker or a HDD from it on the network ?

Took me a minute to figure out what a USB sticker was. Anyway, are you having a specific problem or getting an error message? The instructions seem pretty straightforward.

I'll take a first guess, but those options are what you do on the router, using the router's configuration screen. Is that the issue, or are you asking how to connect to the USB device from a Windows 7 computer?

    Thanks for the reply.

I have the USB sticker visible on the router.

The issue is how to connect to the USB device from a Windows 7 computer.

I don't know about your Router, but on my D-Link DIR-655, I have to RUN the Shareport application on each PC, to be able to access devices connected to the Routers USB port. You'll likely have to read the manual thoroughly to figure out how to make it work.

    I found a bit more.

The dump I show is from the set up on the router.

The workgroup cannot be set, and that is a showstopper.

Nor the USER and PASS can be set.
