Making a home webserver - Help required!

So ive set up IIS services on the computer with Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

    1. Going to http://my-pc works fine and dandy

    2. Next i hook up an address to my external IP "minecraft.pointto.us"

    3. Next i portforwarded necessary ports in my network. (port checker confirms port 80 is open)

    4. Next i unblock firewall for port 80 UDP and TCP

Thats when it gets tricky. When i try to access the website via the supplied url it says its not working (Or really not working as it should).

So what am i doing wrong? Can anyone help me troubleshoot?

I just went to minecraft.pointto.us without apparent problem. What kind of message are you getting?

did you get a IIS 7 website? because on my end i get nothing. Does this mean my network does not support reverse NAT?

try using a Proxie server to see your site.

I got a pointto splash page, then clicking Welcome brought up an IIS7 page. You could try a DNS flush to force the computer to go out to the Internet for your IP.

Have you bound the domain name to the site in the IIS manager?

No i havent. I just added it and it made no difference.

I believe through research that i require a modem/router that supports REVERSE NAT or IP MASQUERADING to see things with my external IP address from within the local area network it resides.

Can anyone confirm this with me? Im not to well taught in this as i only have a CCNA1 knowledgge behind me.

Also to the kind person who reccomended proxies. That did not work either.

If you have port forwarding set then you shouldn't have any problem, the site is being routed as I can see your IIS page so the problem is how you have setup IIS.

Have you looked through our tutorial? - Host a Website - IIS7.5
