Windows 7 not connecting to Skype or Limewire

I currently have a HP G60 with Windows 7 preinstalled from the factory. I'm able to connect to my social networks like Facebook and MySpace, but I can't connect to Skype or Limewire. I've created exceptions for both programs in the fireewall and it still didn't help and then I "turned off" the firewall and I still can't connect to those networks.

I have additional non-Windows 7 computers on my home network and I can connect to them without an issue.

Any thoughts??

You don't mention if you are using x86 or x64, but I know limewire requires x86 java even if you are on an x64 OS. If you are on x64, and only have x64 java installed, that may be your issue with limewire, and if skype is java based as well, that also may be the culprit.
