help setting up gigabit LAN

my family just bought a new wifi router (NETGEAR N300 Wireless Gigabit Router) to replace our old one that kept loosing connections (Linksys Wifi-G, something old like that). everything works well but im having trouble setting up my PC to use its gigabit LAN function. My brother's PC automatically switched from100mb/s to 1gb/s when i plunged the new router in. My dad's work laptop also did this. however, my PC was unable to automatically switch to 1gb/s. i am still at 100mb/s. i have tried swapping ports on the router, restarting my PC, restarting the router, unplugging the CAT6 cable on the back of my PC, looking inside the router's page to see if i could change a setting, and reinstalling my mobo driver. i dont understand why im not getting the 1gb/s speeds seeing as everything says i should. My PC supports it, the router supports it, and the cable supports it.

Does anyone know what i can do to get 1gb/s speed through my network?

Did you ever think maybe your NIC card is only a 10/100? Only thing you can do is update your NIC card.

I have a GIGABYTE network and my card is only 10/100 and I'm very sad

My mobo is an asus 750i SLI (as u can see in my system specs). It has 10/100/1000 capabilities.

Zepher: I might do that later on. Still though, I'd be moving it to my brothers room and using his cat5e cable vs my cat6. I'll give it a try though.

Ok, i just made a new CAT5e cable (same as my brother) and it didnt solve my problem. so i went back to my CAT6 cable.

on a side note - my dad's work laptop is using the same type of CAT6 cable that im using and he is getting 1gb/s speed. both he and my brother are using win XP pro.

i also tried uninstalling Nvidia Network Access Manager to see if that would help but it didnt.

there has to be a setting somewhere that i need to change. maybe a driver?

ive also when into my BOIS and looked for network options or setting, but to no avail.

suggestions? Ideas? anything would be usefull.

we have no in-wall wiring for our network. each cable runs from the router to a computer. i just had my dad bring his work laptop in and connect via my CAT6 cable and he had 1gb/s speed. that shows that my cable is working fine and that the problem is within my computer.

the guy there talks about my Motherboard (AUSU P5N-D). does anyone know if this is true or not? right on the box its says it has Giga-lan. ill even post a screen shot showing i am capable of 10/100/1000mb/s speeds.
