    home network stopped working

My home network consists of two computers which were communicating with each other until the other day I had to do a system restore and now my computer does not see the other one on the network. Anybody got any ideas as to what happened? I am running windows 7 ultimate(the one I did system restore on) and the other computer is running xp.

It's possible that you did the restore back to before you had them connected and you'll have to set them up again. What type of restore did you do, was it a System Restore through the System Tools or was it a System Recovery where you took it back to the way it was when new ?

You haven't filled out your System Specs so we don't know what your set up is or how you originally connected the 2 computers so if you could post back with more details I'm sure the experts will be happy to help you.

    home network not working

My system restore went back only a few days. The home network has been working well for over a year now. I had to do the system restore because my .lnk files were all being opened by Word and I could not resolve the problem with the default program option. I should say that this problem (loss of home network) occurred over a year ago and I did not realize at that time that the system restore was responsible for the home network to stop working. So I did a repair install as described in a forum and that solved the problem. It seems then there is a setting that needs changing.
I am running Windows 7 ultimate, using an AMD Phenom 9750 quad-core processor 2.40 GHz, 8 gig RAM, 64 bit OS.
