    Router connection randomly drops

    Hi guys!

I'm having a problem with my wireless connection. I've searced high and low for a solution, but I can't seem to find it.

The thing is, the connection to my router randomly drops, for just a few seconds, because it automaticly reconnects to it. I know it doesn't seem like a major issue, but losing 2-3 seconds is really something you want to avoid while player FPS games for instance.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Oh btw, my network adapters is:
    - Intel(R) WiFi Link 5300 AGN
    - Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20)

And my router is a "Belkin N Wireless Router" (here's a link: Belkin : N Wireless Router)

If you need any other information in order to help, just let me know. I really want this to be fixed.

    Hi and welcome

One thing I have noticed is that IP-6 support makes some wifi routerd drop at random intervals. to disable ip-6 right click networking in sys ray and click on networking and sharing, click change adapter settings, pick the adapter, right click, and goto properties. un check ip-6

Hope this helps and let us know if not

    Thanks for the quick reply...

At first I thought it had fixed it, but turns out it hasn't, unfortunately, since it just did the drop/reconnect twice within minutes apart.

    Any other ideas? :)

could you go into event viewer (type event viewer in search) and see if there are errors related to this in the app, and system tab?

I'm a bit unsure exactly what to look for...

But some of the "warnings" that may be related to this is like:

    - WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped.

    - Name resolution for the name da.start3.mozilla.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. (with various websites)

    - : The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. (this one i don't understand, so not sure it's relevant)

Those seem to be the most frequent warnings..

    Hope this helps...

But some of the "warnings" that may be related to this is like:

    - WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped. not a problem

    - Name resolution for the name da.start3.mozilla.com timed out after none of the configured DNS servers responded. (with various websites) this is most probably the problem. who provides dns? run ipconfig /all in cmd window and check

    - : The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested. The BIOS might be trying to access the EC without synchronizing with the operating system. This data will be ignored. No further action is necessary; however, you should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. (this one i don't understand, so not sure it's relevant) bios upgrade cant hurt

Those seem to be the most frequent warnings..

I have exactly the same WiFi & LAN, typical for HP Pavilion notebooks so I guess that´s what you have. When we add that I have exactly the same Belkin N router, I have to agree with what Ken told you hier earlier. My Belkin was also always dropping me off, until I disabled ip6 support.

So disable ip6 support and shut down your computer. Reboot router from Belkins web-interface and wait until you see in routers LCD-panel it is reconnected to the net. Then restart your computer.

    Hope this works.

    Kari

P.S. Ken, sorry to mess around, I just have same HW than this guy and had the same problem, so I figured I should tell how I fixed it.

Only two places i can see something with DNS.
    Primary DNS suffix: (blank)
    DNS servers: 192.168.2.1 and 192.168.2.2
    Is that it?

I didn't restart my router when i disabled the ipv6 support, so hopefully that's all it takes...

I'll let you know if the restart solved my problem...

Thanks for your patience with me :)
