    wireless network

My wife has a Windows 7 computer connected to the Internet and her Vista laptop she uses in the kitchen and uses a wireless connection. So I put up my laptop and wireless card and try and connect to her computer and I'm ask for a network key which she doesn't know anything about. She can connect and disconnect without putting in a Network key so what can I do to get my laptop connected to her computer?

The network key only needs to be entered the first time.
Does the network appear as a secure network?

Yes the network is secure so would she have to re do the network key because she doesn't know anything about it and I wasn't there when she bought the laptop?

Yeah you'll need to log into the router and change the network key there to something you will know.
It will then be necessary to enter the new key in both her laptop and yours.

For info on dealing with the router it would be best to just google the model and find the user manual for it.
