Homegroup: Can you add files on a USB HDD connected to a router?

I tried searching the forum but couldn't find anything.

The USB HDD is a Western Digital 2 TB Usb 3, and I got it on a netgear router directly.

I can see it on my network, but when I try to link directery's or files to the homegroup it doens't give me an option to do so.

So I reckon this cannot be done, but is there a tweek or something to make this work?

    Thanks in advance!

Have you set up the network on it?

How to configure the Network Settings on the WD TV Live HD Media Player

If you can ping it, should be able to mapp a drive to it, or simply type the ip address in the Explorer's address bar as \\"ipaddress".
