    Assigning bandwidth

Hello geeks and gurus allover this planet and beyond. This is not a problem per se, it is only something I would like to do if it is possible.

I get TV from my home country here where I live over the net. I subscribe a Finnish IPTV service, receiving signal with a Motorola VIP1920-9T IPTV box. The box had no HD; if I want to save tv programs, I use a web-PVR where I can choose any show from any channel I'm subscribing from the last two weeks. Service provider saves all channels for me for 14 days. Using this web-PVR I can also stream the shows to my computer, which is practical to somebody like me who has to travel quite a lot.

I have a 50 Mbps VDSL line, router is Belkin N1 Vision. It is normally really fast, working fine and enough for me. The problem is, when I use web-PVR to download a show to my HD, it uses all bandwith it can get. This means a stuttering TV-signal and slow surfing as long as the download takes.

Web-PVR has a nice and easy interface where I can choose bandwith (image after the text). I think it is only for streaming, having no effect to download speed.

So here comes the question: how can I assign a certain minimum bandwith for IPTV box, and set a certain max bandwith for web-PVR. The goal is to give IPTV a minimum 15 Mbps, web-PVR maximum 15 Mbps and leave the rest free so surf speed is not affected even when wathing IPTV and downloading shows.

    Any help appreciated.

    Kari

Edit: I've asked IPTV servicer provider, they say there's nothing they can do.

Kari; After reading your post, I am wondering if a "Download Manager" would do what you want. This is "FreeDownloadManager", although there are many others.

It is designed to reduce the time it takes to complete a download by downloading several parts of the file simultaneously. However, it can be set to download only one stream and allow for other network activity.

    Just a thought?

Yes, this is solved. Havo to report it as such.

Netlimiter does the job, every device and net-using application have now they limits. I recommend Netlimiter wholeheartedly.
