Try a static IP Address somewhere high up in the range, for example 192.168.1.68.

It is stange that it isnt showing the DHCP Server but it shoudnt cause a problem as the other details are correct. All I can think of right now is that there maybe an IP Conflict.

I just want to be sure I set up a static IP correctly. I know I can set a designated/preferred IP on the router. Is there anything I should do on the computer itself, or just the router using MAC address?

Thanks for the guide. I'll read.

In talking to someone last night, they suggested I try to create an alternative network (guest network) for the conflicting items with lower priority (kids iPods, for instance). Sounds like an interesting idea.

Any thoughts on the idea, and any guidance on how I would implement that?

your router's settings should have a guest setting. try looking at it and read the details on the right side of the page.
I've never tried it but I seen that option in there.

Been busy for a couple of days, so haven't had a chance to implement this yet, but a thought occurred I'd like some comments on...

Both the devices that have issues (primarily the Win7, but sometimes the Vista) are both able to take N connections. Is this just a coincidence, or could it be part of the issue?
