    network homegroup won't connect

    HI,

    I have a desktop (Win 7 ) and Laptop (Win 7 Ultimate).
I had to do a reinstall on the desktop and it is hard wired. It has a network name and homegroup but the laptop is connected to the new router (wireless) and it connected to the router but the connection is under the new router name and not my home network name? How can I change so these 2 computers are on the same network name? The computers do not recognize each other?
Thanks in advance for any help,

    Regards
    Razz.

so I would just delete the network on each computer? replug in the wireless and go from there? Do I have to unplug the LAN from the desktop also?

Just scrap the setup in Win7 and redefine. No need to pull plugs.

Just for grins...go in control panel, system, where it says computer name, domain and workgroup settings, out to the right is a small shield and Change Settings. Click and in next screen at bottom clik
    Change
In the Computer Name/Domain Changes window at bottom, tick the little blue button and under Workgroup, name your homenetwork something
    like MyHome1.
Do that on the laptop also.
Reboot both and you will be on the same network regardless of how you
    get to the internet.

Well thanks for all the responses . Tried them all , but I must be a dunce. Both still get internet but they do not show up in the network sharing. They are each in the network on their respective units.

OK I spent hours with my ISP technician and he finally said that MS has know issues with Homegroup sharing?? I find this hard to believe as I had this working before. We tried all the suggestions posted here. If I hardwire both computers they both show on each computer. Switch the Laptop to wireless and the homegroup is a no show anywhere ??
    Any ideas?
