    Do these actions

    1. Check your systemdisk for errors and repair them Disk Check . Any errors? And is it fixed? Sometimes you have to run it multiple times to fix all problems
    2. Check your system files and repair them SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker . Were there any corrupt files? Was win7 able to fix them? Sometimes you have to run it multiple times to fix all problems
If both steps above don't produce errors anymore and you did a reboot afterwards, test internet connection again. If it still doesn't work

    From Elevated Command Prompt
netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)
netsh int ip reset c:\reset.log (reset TCP/IP stack)
Now reboot. Does it fix the problem?

You can check and delete c:\reset.log later.

netsh winsock reset (reset winsock entries)
    netsh int ip reset

but both commands ended successfully? indeed no reset.log file (was vista syntax I assume)
    Did you boot afterwards?

I formatted my PC just yesterday and installed a clean copy of windows 7 Ultimate x64.
Installation went smoothly and everything was okay.
Then today I had to restart my router and since than I keep having problems with my ethernet connection
Why did you restart your router? Are you very sure that before this action you had no connection problems? And just after retarting router the problems start?

Can you borrow another router for an hour? switch it on, wait a few minutes, then put ethernetcable in it. Do you get an ip-address from router?

IPCONFIG in command prompt. Have you gor a 192.168 ip address something like:
    Code:
     Verbindingsspec. DNS-achtervoegsel:
    Link-local IPv6-adres . . . . . . : fe80::dc7d:1b91:3c56:68c1%11
    IPv4-adres. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.10.100
    Subnetmasker. . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
    Standaardgateway. . . . . . . . . : 192.168.10.1

To prove it's a windows7 problem (or to prove it's not) download ubuntu live cd and burn to dvd. Reboot from that dvd on not working machine. Don't install it but just run the live version! Can it browse the internet. look for some icon and check network settings. Has it an ip address?

If it can access internet it's good

Nothing dude... the eth port seems to be dead..
Same on PartedMagic (found that live media around so why not that)...Packets get sent but none is received... I wanna run a last test using my laptop + fedora 15... if the router end of the cable's good, I think we found the faulty component...

PartedMagic?? That's for partitioning afiak. Or can it network as well? Anyway eth0 is dead on windows7, linux etc? Uninstall driver in device manager, shutdown, power off and remove network card. Buy another network card. Is it a laptop?? Then removing network card can be difficult ... just disable driver in device manager
