Strange Network Issues between Laptop/Desktop/Xbox

Just upgraded from a WRT54G to a wireless gateway, CiscoDCP3825.

I'm using:
Wired Desktop, Win7 Ultimate x64, name: Cyclone
Wireless Laptop, Win7 Home premium, name: Tsunami
Xbox 360 wireless

Laptop & Desktop are unable to connect to a homegroup. If I make it on the desktop, the laptop will not connect and vice versa.

However, using sharing settings I am able to share between them still. I can access whatever through traditional means.

The major problem however, is that only the laptop sees the Xbox, and the Xbox can see neither.

Have tried static IP's, etc. Can't get anything to work.

I realize it may be a firewall issue in the gateway, but seems unlikely. Checking for support in both places at any rate.

What firewall are you using? Also, have you made sure that nothing is set to "Block" in the media streaming options in Advanced Sharing Settings on both computers?

Win7 Firewall, Microsoft Security Essentials Free, All streaming options are active.

Works like a charm between PC's, just no joy on the Xbox.

Turning off Windows Firewall changes nothing. Have a feeling it's the homegroup issue.

Just to be sure, is your xbox fully updated?

I'm going to look through the settings on my xbox and see if I can find something that might help. I'll post again in a few minutes.

Yep, connects to Xbox live just fine.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you. This thread reminded me of one I posted in a while back with someoen that had the same problem. One fix involved changing a setting in his router:

I tried many things to resolve this but the only thing that actually fixed my problem was in my router configuration. I have a Linksys router and I logged into my router config page via web browser. I then clicked "Security" I then set the "Filter Multicast" option to "ENABLED" I now had instant access to my media via my xbox.

That fix did not work for him but it did for someone else. Not sure how you would go about doing that or if you are even able to on your new router. What did end up being that persons problem was that Routing and Remote access Properties was disabled in services on his computer, and changing it to automatic fixed the problem. That was a year ago though and I do not have a problem with that service disabled on my computer. just thought you could give those solutions a try.
