do internet speed accelerators realy work?

do internet speed accelerators really work?

    applications like
    full speed internet booster
    speed connect internet accelerator
    internet download managers
    DAP
    MDM

i don't see any difference in my DL speed when im using these apps.

    do they really work?

i have a 6mbps dsl plan. (w/ 20% reserved bandwidth disabled) i still get only 680kBps to 700kBps DL speed when using internet download manager. it's the same DL speed even without download manager. i still lack 50kBps.

Because people "believe" that it will work and there are suckers born every day. In some instances, it might tweak a setting to maximize the bandwidth that you have...but a dramatic impact that you are really going to notice....not gonna see it.

Your download speed is over 90% of maximum speed you can get. I know a lot of geeks who would get a mental orgasm if they could always get over 60-70%.

There are only two things you can do:

    1. Live with it

    OR

    2. Upgrade your line, change the plan

Please understand I'm just stating the facts.

    Happy downloads, Kari

In my opinion NO DOWN LOAD accelerators do not work.
what they do such as Is allow you to have more single connections to a specific server. If that Server looks at IPs and allows only 500mbps download speed the accelerator will assist in maintaining the 500mbps. but it will not get you 750 mbps or 1000 mbps. They do assist in maintain the speed but that is all.

Just a point of order - It is possible to adjust your network throughput. It requires extreme monitoring and frequent modifcation to maintain maximum throughput. Any single connection is actually a group of connections - where the total throughput is limited by the slowest link. Of all the tweaks on the desktop, this one requires the most coordination of all - and can never really be achieved.

The referenced applications are revenue devices first and foremost - they serve no benefit for most users.

And Kari is right, you are balls out on that connection.

Well, we have to put a bit of nuance to this.

The answer is yes and no.

It can not make downloads go faster than your maximum download.

But it can surely improve your average download speed.

It does this by optimizing buffers, packet size, time to live, and build more concurrent connections with the server you are downloading from.

    Example.

Lets suppose you have a 20 mbit ADSL contract.

And lets assume the distance to the central and the quality of the copper lines in your case, make it theoretically possible to reach a download of let say 17 mbit.
You will never reach this limit, but some peaks may be 16 mbit.

In this scenario lets say you only reach an average download of 9 mbit.

By tweaking your packets, time to live, and concurrent sessions etcetera, or using a well configured utility, you might reach an average of 10 mbit or 11 mbit.

    So the answer is yes.
A well configured speedup utility might indeed increase your average download speed.

If you don't believe me, just do an investigation of your own.

Ok, I can live with that. But my point was he's already getting over 9/10th of his maximum.
