    Connected but not connected

    Hello,

I have a a windows 7 64-bit (premium-I think) OS on my Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop. Anyhow, my internet has not been working For a couple of days. I'm connected and have full bar of connection strength, but I can't get on the internet.

I'm at school now...so I won't be able to provide anymore information until I come back tomorrow or the internet magically comes on again.

Anyhow, I usually turn on/off the router and this solves the problem, but not this time, or yesterday, or the day before that.

I went looking through the board and saw that maybe I might need to " log into its device webpage and change its broadcasting frequency". Is that correct? How do I do that?

If not, what can I do? Thanks!

Got into your modem/&/or/router settings and check nothing has gone wrong; examine any logs in particular, it does sound like the problem's more likely to be there than on your laptop.

Can you connect using an ethernet cable?

Getting full signal strength only indicates that you are in a good wireless signal area, not that it will connect to the internet. As the previous reply suggests, connect an ethernet cable temporarily and see if you can reliably connect to the internet - if so, you will need to check the properties of your wireless device. To do this, go to start, network connections and right click on the wireless device icon and select properties. Look at the TCP/IP and make sure it is ticked and that IPv4 is connected - if not, open a command prompt window and type "ipconfig" and check that the wireless device is getting a recognized IP address from the router e.g. 192.168.0.4 for example.
    Reply with results.
