The Following Discovered Devices Cannot Be placed on the map??

I have been having problems networking my wifes computer ever since she got it. I want to share files and documents over the network and also stream movies from her computer but for some reason nothing can seem to find my wifes computer successfully. I have tried every setting under the sun made sure everything is exact and it still will not work. I know it will more than likely be a stupid simple setting and aside from reformatting my wifes system and reinstalling windows I have no idea of what else I can do. I have managed to be able to get her laptop seen by my Desktop PC but it will not place it in the map and it puts it at the bottom saying the following discovered devices cannot be placed on the map. I have set up tversity on her computer and that is not seen by my PS3 either. I have no idea what other settings I can change on her computer to make it work. I have changed homegroups ect and still no luck. I can see my system from hers but cannot access files and vice versa. Although I have managed to get some pictures off of her system but when it comes to video it says I do not have permission to get those even though they are all in the same folders. I thought networking with windows 7 was supposed to be easy but geez this is driving me nuts! Everything I have googled and looked up has not helped at all. Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

Have you set up a HomeNetwork on the main PC, and let the other join it?

As far as Streaming goes, a lot will depend on the type of files you are trying to stream. Video/Audio Codec and containers being used.
TVersity worked OK for me, but had a couple small issues. I found Nero Media Home worked the best.

But again, depending on the file types (Containers/codecs) you may need to transcode the files to stream to the PS3.
And the transcoding portion of TVersity as well as NEro is a Paid for add-on.

This is why I would stick to encoding video with H264/AC3 or AAC codecs, and the MKV container. Streaming with either app of your choice should work with just about anything.

Are all the PC's windows 7 or is there a Windows XP PC in the mix? Homegroup will not work with Windows XP and Windows XP PC's won't show up correctly in the Windows 7 Network Map without a patch from Microsoft.
