Neighbours can see pc and internet contents with network discovery off
Hi everyone, i have no idea how this is happening, i am using windows 7 home premium 64bit, i went through all the start up setup that windows ask you to do under first install. I have virgin media 50mbs cable internet connected through modem then router to wired LAN on desktop, network wizard was not required to be run to connect to the internet as i am using a dynamic ip address, this was also confirmed by the it support at virgin media. The pc is at home so i setup the network as a home private network and turned off network discovery set up a homegroup, disabled file sharing media streaming under admin account, but still the neighbours could see whatever i was viewing on my pc connecting through the internet, remote desktop connection was also disabled.
Have changed my network location to public to remove any chance of network discovery and file sharing but under advanced settings i still see network discovery and file sharing is still set as on so stopped this under admin settings but this needs doing everytime i start up the pc, it does not save the settings. Firewall i am using is zone alarm pro, set the network as trusted still had the same problems, set the network as public still the same, set the pc protection as high so nobody can connect to me on the network in both public and network connections and yet still the neighbours can still see what i am viewing on the pc internet connection.
I just dont understand what i have done wrong to be able to correct the problem so i really need some advice as to what i should do if i have done everything that the pc has asked me to do when i first ran the pc how can the security be breached for the content to be viewable?
In desperate need of help
