Wireless Icon X'd out, not on network map, but still have a connection

    Acer 532h Windows 7 Starter 32 Bit.
    .
I can still connect to wifi, although it has started as of yesterday to no longer show this computer on the network map and to have the icon on the task bar X'd out despite being connected.
    .
Before this the icon would display normally, however the network map has always shown my computer connecting to a large question mark which is then connected to the router.
Although now that I think about it I don't suppose I have ever checked the network map itself outside of my house before this, but regardless now it does not show up anywhere and the icon is X'd out for some reason.
    .
Anyone know why this is happening and why in the past it said it was going though some question mark to the router? Almost sounds like before someone was playing middle man in between myself and the router but I don't believe anyone here knows how to do that nor why.

    Welcome to Seven Forums,

You may try a System Restore, go back a day or 2 before this occured.

If that didn't help, see if disabling then enabling your Network Adapters from Device Manager helps. Here's a general Tutorial on how to use Device Manager.

Disabling the driver and re-enabling it does not do anything regarding the logo (cannot test map atm). I am guessing this is some registry keys that were messed up somehow although I don't know why this error would ever occur. I will try re-installing the wireless driver once I get home and can use Ethernet.

Does anyone know where the information is that leads to what icon is displayed for the wifi or anything about the network map? I am admin on this computer.

I could try a system restore, but I don't really know what happened. Before it still had my computer connected to ---> question mark which was then ---> connected to the router. It can still see other computers on the network map I believe, although I will have to verify this when I get home so I will update this part later. Given it had an odd issue before (as far as I can tell this was the case when I first got it, although I did not check the network map immediately) I don't know if SR would fix it. I will probably try it later regardless but cannot atm since I will need to move some files.

It has had windows 7 starter from the get-go, so perhaps something went wrong there.
