have some questions about RDP

I'm currently in the Computer Tech program at the local college, but next year my college is planning to require us to bring our own computers :O

Since I don't want to purchase a laptop to be able to use Visual Studio, I'm considering using my BlackBerry PlayBook to rdp to my home computer (specs down below). I have a few questions:

1. Is it possible to have concurrent sesstions, or be able to log int a dedicted rdp account without booting off the main htpc/server user account?

2. What kind of perfomance can I expect, or will it be useable? I have vdsl2 and the computer is connected directly to the router. The school wifi is pretty good too.

Thanks.

I'm not to sure on RDP and really never been a fan of because of the difficulties that are involved in it...it's too complicated in IMO. Not user friendly. As far as the Blackberry goes...that's a new one on me.

I prefer to use TeamViewer...there maybe an app for the blackberry but not quite sure.

I'm mostly looking for performance. I'm currently using Logmein which does work, but performance is a tad subpar. I believe rdp will be a lot better to use. I'm perfectly capable of configuring the ports and shit.

I did find a hack to enable concurrent sessions in rdp, which is really important as I want to be able to use it even when someone is watching a show.

It all depends on how good your Internet connection is between the two sites. That's not something anyone else can measure or predict.

Latency matters as least as much as bandwidth. If you have bad ping times you'll have problems even if you have good bandwidth.

I'll have to check the wifi at school, but it is also pretty good.

With that connection RDP should work OK provided your wifi connection is good for at least 200kbytes/sec sustained download with a reasonable ping.

FAX Questions, Please
Hello, Sr. Citizen now, and frankly not at all sharp with this stuff. Would be most appreciative for any help. Is it possible to have my PC receive FAX's, as it would regular e-mail ? Or, do I have to purchase one of those FAX modems I read about, and utilize our phone line ?

A Few Questions
I've used Windows Media Center a couple times and like the look and feel and would use it if I had a couple of these things. 1. Is it possible to skin? 2. Is there a way to sync free tv shows and movies to it, or something along those lines? Thanks. ~Joshua~
