LAN internet connection problem: cannot connect for no apparent reason

The problem is, yesterday I reinstalled my windows 7 (clean install) and today I wanted to connect my second PC (running win xp) to the internet through this PC (running win 7 ultimate), no router, just internet -> my pc -> my second pc thru another internet card, but on my second PC it is shown that its connected to my first pc, yet it has no connection.
