Family's Hp2000 Laptop, and Linksys WRT120N router
Just this weekend I helped my niece, and her husband move to a new address.
Both devices are wireless.
When he tried to connect his laptop the same problem showed up, this was happening at the old address.
Their home network is on, and connected, but when he tries to get on the web the laptop does not see the router.
So far the only thing that works is pulling the power from the router, waiting, then plugging the router back in. Then the laptop sees, and can work on the internet.
The steps I have ask her to take so far, but have not received any feedback are:
Can anyone tell me if I am going in the right direction or maybe down a blind alley? For the HP2000 (the machine) go here: How to Troubleshoot a Linksys Wireless Router | eHow.com
Start at step #2, then do step #4. Most user-name's and password's to your Linksys router should be admin then admin again for the password, unless you changed it.
some may only require one; either in the user box, and leave the password blank or vice versa...
Close the browser restart the machine, and see if you can connect.
If not, try a hard reset to the router here's how: How to Reset a Linksys Wireless-N | eHow.com
There are new drivers for the machine, you can use this tool to check and see if the 2000 needs any: HP Product Detection
Here are some troubleshooting tips for the machine: Troubleshoot a Lost Internet or E-mail Connection on a Wireless Network with Windows 7 - HP Customer Care (Canada - English)
We may have to do a re-install of the router software. Do you still have the installation disk?

There is something that is not allowing the laptop to recognize the router when the laptop starts up, but does while the laptop is running, and the router restarts, I just can't put my finger on it yet.
