Part of the troubleshooting process that we provide in the forum is for you to give your best knowledge to follow our guides. If it doesn't work, then you may either give it a try one more time or move on to the next recommendation.

I have given you 2 different links to follow on how to change the Interface Metric of your LAN and WLAN settings and both seems to be very straight forward. Please try and give it a shot.

Regarding Avatars - You may post here if you want and submit your graphics and I'll be able to find your post. Thanks for the offer. :)

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Ok I have wifi internet and wired lan both working....
here is what i did according to the pages you sent me to
I configured I changed metric to 5 on realtek wifi, 6 on miniport and 7 on nic.. installed on RIP listener in programs windows options....

I can now go online and browse my network at the same time.. sharing center is showing 2 networks myhome network...lan and public network... wifi.... but it is saying no internet connection for my home network.... I thought it would so programs in home network could go online but i guess it does'nt as my browser and media center appear to be working... so for now I think it is fixed.... I'm gonna config all of my media programs that search info online on auto and see.. if they all work I will mark this solved....
    tnx 2XG

    Hello,

I don't think 'Bridging' will help alleviate your issue.

You may change your NIC's auto detect to auto negotation 1000mbps or 100mbps/full duplex from Device Manager. Another option for file sharing, I would also highly recommend a NAS for heavy file transfer, I use these at work and home. Here's a very reasonable NAS.

lol BTW noticed your flags.. I'm so-cal also live at a cirtain beach known as surf city.. lol

ok for some reason today after a cold boot I lost all internet so I temporarily manually turned off lan again and here I am...... (scrtching head) who knows
well I'll be checking the other stuff you wrote down but...lol my media servers are 2 LG N1A1 NAS... and a WDLiveHub each one with terrebite drives.... all 3 terribites are about full sooo been thinking of shopping for a larger NAS with 3 striped 2 terrabiyte drives and then putting my old ones on craig's.. I have backed up all 608 movies in my shelves on ISO to preserve the menues and I boot them with an virtual drive and ISO booter... i,e. power ISO.. that way i can play them all as full DVD-BD in media center or media player.. from the library ,, prob is my wife is addicted to netflix and hulu.. soo I also need online..ans need the tagging utils to work

    That's good news crunch....

For a trouble free file transfering in your network, remember that it's not just a mid to high end NAS that you have to think about, Gig NIC from your computer, Gig NIC from NAS or/and Network Switch, Cat5e or higher network cables - they all play a big role for a better transfer rate. NAS with RAID technology will help a lot. At my work, these all work well for me.

For downloading huge files from the internet, the greater bandwidth that you have subscribed from your ISP, you'll have a better outcome.
