Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration
Hi. At home i only have a wifi internet connection and i dont have a reciever for my desktop so i was using my laptop to share the internet connection through a Lan cable
But today all of a sudden my desktop cant connect to the internet anymore because
"Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration"
I have tried all the solutions i could google but nothing helped

I would greatly appreciate any insight you could offer into the matter
(btw im not sure if i did the static IP solution right because How to Assign a Static IP Address in XP, Vista, or Windows 7 - How-To Geek just shows the "how to" but no the rules that govern the process so i might have screwed up)
