Both pc's are still seeing each other & can get to the files & music of both. Next question how do I share my printer which is hooked up to my win7 64 bit desktop with my laptop which is vista 32 bit. the printer is a Lexmark x2470

When I try to add the network printer it says the correct driver is not there. When I installed the printer to my new win7 desktop I went to the web site and downloaded & installed the driver for the win7. The printer works on my win7 desktop. What driver do I need? one for the vista laptop? or what? It says the file INF is needed

    Strictly speaking, no.

Now that you've installed the printer driver on the laptop you need to set up the printer for sharing.

Go back to the computer that the printer is connected to and do this: Share a printer

I gave you this link in post #52. Did you read through it? :)

Delete the one named Lexmark then right-click the one that is now linked to your desktop PC and check it's selected as the default printer.

Make sure the printer on your desktop is set up for sharing.

If you want to start over, this link takes you through setting up a homegroup from start to finish - Step 5 describes how to share your printer.

I re-installed the printer & drivers, on the desktop it is the driver for win7 64 bit & on laptop it's driver for vista 32 bit.

It prints from both but when I print from the laptop, that same icon appears on the win7 desktop saying aprogram on this computer is trying to display a message, when I clicked on the details, this is what it says:
Program on devices requesting attention message title Lexmark 2400 Series-USB port
    Program path c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\x64\3\lrcrpswrt.dll
This problem occurs when a program is not fully compatible with windows

If I view the message which is on win7 desktop which says click to continue printing, it prints it to printer.

    How do I solve this?

This same message also occured when I installed the print driver for win7 on the vista 32 bit laptop

I can print from the win7 desktop PC with no problem
