    Network Sharing--Home and Public


    Hi,
    I use Win 7 OS 64 bit on Dell Laptop 6420 model.

    Under advanced sharing settings I want to permanently "Turn Off Network Discovery" both in Home/work and Public profiles.

    The problem is that, everytime I reboot my Laptop the setting get changed to "Turn On Network Discovery"in all profiles.

    How do I ensure that these settings are Turned off permanently, unless off-course I want to turn them on.

    A. Click Start, type services.msc and hit enter.


    B. From the list of services, double click on "Function Discovery Provider Host" service, change the startup type to disabled and stop the service which will turn off the service.

    Or if it's set to Automatic change it to Manual which should keep it from turning back on Automatically.

    Changing the service to Manual should keep it from turning back on, it may have been set to Automatic.
