I didn't put this in my update, and I probably should have, I did try refreshing when I saw "?" before disconnecting and reconnecting.
And the refresh corrected the map?
LOL, again, I should have stated this. No refreshing did not get rid of "?". Sorry for the confusion.

Now that's odd. It typically has corrected the map whem I've seen the "?" then refreshed it, maybe a couple of refreshes.

    Update #8 & #9

I did not post update yesterday, so this update consists of the last two sleep cycles

    Update #8

Laptop was inactive for 11 hours. When I woke laptop, connection was active. When I checked network map, no issues.

    Update #9

Laptop was inactive for 13 hours. When I woke laptop, connection was active. When I checked network map, no issues.

Considering that the only time I have seen the "?" was when I shutdown laptop and not just out of the blue, and the fact that I was able to make the "?" go away, unlike before, I am almost ready to mark this thread solved.

Does seem rather consistent. If I would want more confirmation I would re-enable the power save feature just to see if I could make it appear again.

Yeah, I know that's the next step, but I don't want to.
What if it does come back, and I can't get rid of it.

I will do that of course, have to make sure. I am going to wait a couple more days, make sure that "disconnect" issue doesn't pop up again.

So the disconnects haven't happened since #3? Both #2 and #3 were your only disconnects?

Correct, I haven't had an instance, where my internet connection was disconnected on wake up, other than the two you mentioned.

    Update #14 & #15

    Update # 14
    INACTIVITY: 9 hours
    INTERNET ON WAKE UP: connected
    NETWORK MAP: no issue

    Update #14a
Prior to ending my daily use, I decided to check Network Map, I was shocked to find the "?" had returned. I saw: my laptop(named correctly), solid green lines, "?", solid green lines, my router(no SSID, just model number), solid green lines, "Internet".
I refreshed a few times and same results.
I proceeded to disconnect internet by clicking on signal meter in task bar, I immediately reconnected. Once connection was established, I checked Network Map, I got the correct map: my laptop, dashed green lines, my router(correct SSID), solid green lines, "Internet".

    Update # 15
    INACTIVITY: 9 hours
    INTERNET ON WAKE UP: connected
    NETWORK MAP: no issue
