To share the entire drive:

Why didn't I need to do all of this with the other PCs when their security settings are all default as well? When I enable Public folder sharing, it should be as easy as looking for the PC under Network, right?

Like a mentioned earlier, I'm not sure why you are getting this password/delay problem but if it has anything to do with permission's or security this should fix the problem.

Don't forget to turn off the password protected sharing option in both Home and Work networks in the Advanced Sharing Settings. There is like two different sets of options for both of those.

I'm not sure why you need to enable the Public file sharing option unless you need to share folders or files with the Public on an open network.

Ok I would just try it but I still don't understand why it only happens on these two isolated (with the same username: Kevin) computers.

The password protected sharing is turned off for all networks: Home and Public, there are no options for Work networks. Both computers are set to be Home networks.

Public FOLDER sharing is just sharing C:/Users/Kevin/Public folder, please reread the description of this. This is NOT Public sharing. It.s like automatically sharing one folder named Public in your Home network with all the permissions set to Read/Write for Everyone automatically. Again, this works flawlessly for my other computers.

Yeah I've tried but it seems to still have the problem. Weird thing is that other computers accessing these two problem computers can access them fast (without delay) and vice versa. The problem only persists when these two problem computers are accessing each other.

Try going to Device Manager and open up right click the current Network Adapter>properties, then the Advanced Settings tab.

Disable Large Send Offload (IPv4), you might try adjusting some of those other settings if that doesn't work. I've looked around and that one seems to have the greatest effect on slow network access problems.

Any type of installed A/V software or third party firewalls can also cause this problem.

You might also have a problem with your TCP/IP stack.

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.

Are all the machines on the same switch?

If you ping the Share PC from the problem PC what is the response times like?

For a test disable the Anti-Virus on the machines and see if the problem persists. - Re-enable them afterwards.

I just reformatted both computers and they still have the same problem. I have a high intuition that this is not a "slow network" problem since most of my equipments are, should we say, "not cheap" ones. They are connected via the same switch, an HP Procurve with a pfsense box as the main router. I already tried using another router, a Linksys Gigabit router and the prolem still persists. Btw, I'm in a Gigabit environment.

One of the problem computers is connected via wifi (Intel 6300ABGN) and as I've said it does not have any problem accessing the other computers. The other computers also don't have problems accessing these two problem computers. This has got to do with some petty settings that we do not know of.

Ys, I've tried disabling everything already, Antivirus, Windows firewall, name it. I've stated this infomation earlier in this thread. My AV is Microsoft Security Essentials, and again I have stated this earlier (it is a very light program and doesn't intefer much with network traffic).

Ping responses from either of the problem PCs are good, like in between 1~10ms.

So this is a lot of headache for me now I've been searching for answer on this one to no avail

One of the problem PC's are connected via wireless? I'm presuming that this is not the share pc?

Install and run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector on the wireless problem PC.
Double click the Xirrus Icon on your Desktop, Tap the Printscreen key on your keyboard, open up Paint then choose Edit from the Menu and select Paste, then SAVE it. Upload and attached it here, click on Go Advanced and locate Manage Attachments Tab and attached the file.

You maybe using a congested wireless channel or something.

I already tried NOT USING the WIFI card and resorted to the Gigabit LAN connection of that problem PC and still the same problem. So potential wireless connection issue is eliminated here.
