Wireless adapter stops working after 15 minutes.

Hi all, I have a problem and can't seem to find anything similar online after over an hour of searching.

My connection works perfectly for 15ish minutes, then I get disconnected. The wireless icon at the bottom left has a red x and says that there are no connections available.

In the network connections window my wireless adaptor also has a red X. If I try to disable it the computer becomes completely unresponsive and I have to manually reboot it, then it works fine for 15 more minutes etc.

I ran the check for new drivers but it said it was up to date.

Computer is a Samsung r530 laptop.
    Wireless adapter is Atheros AR9285.
Connected to a wireless router, which seems to be working. (fine on other laptop and Ipad in the house)

The same setup has worked fine for the past year at least.

Thank a million in advance to anyone who can help me out.

Have you changed anything on your laptop (installed software, removed software, added/removed drivers, dropped it, etc)? Is your A/V up to date, and have you scanned for viruses lately? Have you checked your event logs to see if there is anything listed that is related to your disconnects?

I installed AVG about 3 weeks ago. Some of the replies to problems similar semmed to suggest AVG was responsible for this type of crash.

I ran a virus scan before posting and it was clean.

I'm currently using an ethernet cable connected to the same wireless modem and it works fine by the way.

I would completely uninstall AVG, reboot, then download and install Microsoft Security Essentials. See if you continue to have wireless problems.
