Remote Desktop client on Windows 7 Hangs

When I use my Home desktop (Windows XP SP3) using Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) to connect to my Work Windows 7 RTM, I then use RDC or RDP on the Win7 desktop to a server, the Win7’s RDP does not display the logon banner or logon dialog box and MMC then hangs. When I’m directly logged onto my Win7 box all works well.
Help, I need to do RDC to RDC to Server to support my servers from Home.

you should set up an SSH tunnel through your corporate firewall, then you can RDP into the server directly, without having to RDP twice. SSH will give you extra security, as RDP all by itself is not difficult to crack.

Sorry, I VPN into our Cisco firewall first before I can RDP into anything. Some of the servers I support are in another State on a DMZ that I can only get to through my work desktop that has Windows 7.

Plus, this is a Windows 7 issue not a Windows server issue. If I remote into any other system other then Windows 7 (RTM), RDP twice is okay. If I RDP into a Windows 7 desktop, the RDP client on Windows 7 hangs after I use its' RDP to remote into another system. Only the RDP on the Win7 Client hangs. The XP at home and the servers at work never stop working, only the Win7 RDP client is the problem when RDP'ing twice.

    Already disabled IPv6.

I will have to try the copying the RDP files from Win7 and try running them on XP, as the technorabble link said.

Will have to wait for Q4 CY09 for the RTM for RDP7 on XP.

    Not Solved (but have workaround)

I am very happy to report that my problem with RDP client on Win7 hanging has been resolved.

Thank you very much Antman for the technorabble link. I copied the RDP7 client files from my work Win7 PC to my Home XP SP3 PC and ran the RDP7 client; I now have no more hangs in on my Win7 RDP client when I'm doing RDP twice.

EDIT: My problem returned completely also with the RDP7 client on XP. But I do have a workaround. When I RDP twice, the second RDP hangs (the hang happens after trying to make a connection with the 2nd RDP). But if I RDP into the work PC, leave the first RDP into the work PC up, open a second RDP on the home PC into my work PC (causing the first to disconnect), then when starting RDP on the work PC, RDP will not hang .

The other really strange issue I have is when opening OutLook 2007 and logging into the Exchange server, Outlook will hang for 5mins before it makes a connection to the Exchange server. The workaround above also fixes this issue.

    Very strange

Sorry, my problem return, but see message 8 above for a workaround.
