    LAN Shortcut?

i have a single, DSL internet connection. i need to make a desktop shortcut so i can just click on it and disable the LAN, then enable the connection.

did it before but forget how.

    thanks.

You can easily create a desktop shortcut to the 'Network and Sharing Center' from Control Panel. Right-click the Control Panel item and choose Create shortcut. It is possible too to have the Network icon in your system tray. Use the Taskbar Customize button to add Network to Taskbar. Show icons and notifications. A single click on the system tray icon will allow you to disconnect from the connection.

thanks. not sure that's exactly what i was looking for. i would like a shortcut that when clicked takes me directly to the "Local Area Connection Status" window. that's 1 step beyond the process u described, i think. on that window is the option to disable. the shortcut can later be clicked once, and a small window pops up saying, "Enabling," and that 1 click alone re-connects it. do u know how that is done?

why not a batch file that when clicked, disables or enables the lan connection depending on it's previous state?

Also: why? it could be easier to run a script that simply runs IPCONFIG /RENEW

    Open Network and Sharing Center
    Click "Change adapter settings"
Right mouse the icon and drag it to the desktop to create the shortcut
