Why are the pre-set static ARP entries?

When viewing my arp table ('arp -a'). There are all the computers on my lan. But there are also a few static entries. I attached a screen shot of it.

Why are there arp table entries for 224.0.0.22, 224.0.0.251, etc. and what are they for?

The 224 addresses are multicast addresses - packets sent to those address will be received my multiple hosts (or routers).

224.0.0.22 is the IGMP (Internet group Management protocol). 224.0.0.2 for instance is all routers broadcast.

224.0.0.250-255 are unassigned and I think are used on the local network for some windows services multicasting (e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Link-lo...ame_Resolution )

EDIT: I guess I should add that your computer is listening on 224.0.0.252 for multicast packets on that address. That is why it is static.
