Cannot access spares HDD's on Network

So the problem is that my brother cannot access my spare hard drives over the network. And I cannot access his. We can get on each other's C:\ drives but any other hard drives that are set to share gives the error that he doesn't have permission to access the drive.

Now it might just be the way we set it up that's wrong.

What we do is right click the drive goto properties/sharing and click Advanced Sharing and tick share the folder. With this done he can see the drive but cannot access it without permissions. So I click permissions and tick full control butu still he cannot access it.

I have no idea what to do to properly share the drive and give access to it other the network.

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

If you really need to access the entire drive, besides allowing for permissions with the Sharing tab you will also need to go into the "Security" tab of the drive and set permissions there for everyone to access the drive.

This is not the safest way to share drives as it allows Everyone on the network access the entire drive but you can always change it back or you can share the entire "User" folder or set up permissions to share individual folders if desired.

To Share the entire drive follow the instructions in the link below.
