    Getting yellow triangle over network icon. Some sites load, some don't

    Hey,

    The little network icon on the taskbar shows a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in the middle. Sites like facebook don't load. However, I have tried clearing my cache. This momentarily fixes the issue as it prompts the facebook login page just fine, but after I log-in, it doesn't let me go any further. It just keeps trying to load. While this is occurring, most other sites (not windows live) work. Yes, I have tried other browsers. Yes, I have tried using ethernet.

    My friend and I live in a hostel. Her internet works fine. Mine, however, does not. Even though it is set-up the same, and is obviously connecting.

    Can anyone please help? I really need to check my emails/facebook.

    Have a look in network settings, I suspect it might say limited or no connectivity, that being the case it's the connection itself that's dodgy. Just because someone nearby connects ok, they are not using your computer, network adapter etc;

    I'm not entirely clear on how you connect, or try to, does your friend use the same method ? also ask whomever runs the service in your location (admin of hostel or someone) to assign you a different IP address. It might just do the trick.

    It sounds like the network stack or winsock is hosed. Save the file below then unzip and click on it, let the file run until your machine reboots. If you are still having problems please post a screen shot of your ipconfig/all. :)

    Okay, so to answer cyclic: We are both set up to a PPPOE connection, as we have to in the hostel. BOTH our settings are the same. My laptop connects to the University internet fine, and it runs pages like facebook fine. So it's definitely this network. I have tried using the same ethernet plug as my friend, and it still has the same result.

    And chev65:
    I tried it, maybe I am doing something wrong, but it isn't working.

    Thanks, guys

    Oh, and I forgot to mention: Just connecting to the standard modem at my hostel (without the pppoe, which is done using the same modem) it still does the same thing, so it must be something to do with my laptop and modem compatibility or something. ALSO, sometimes I do not get the yellow triangle, and everything looks fine and normal, however preforms the same as it would with the triangle.

    Please update your ethernet card drivers from the computer manufacturer or vendor website.

    Is anyone else having the same problems as you are having with limited access?

    Thanks! - The only other person I have talked to about it is my friend, and hers works perfectly normal.

    Would it be a driver related problem? Because it seems to work fine at the university. O:
