    Limited Access to network

    Hi,
I'm writing today because recently I've been getting the issue of the "Limited Access" when it comes to connecting to the internet at my school. I know it's something wrong with my laptop because every single person that is in the same area as me is receiving internet just fine, for some reason it's only me. At home I connect to my router with no problem it's only in school. Sometimes it does actually connect but when I come back the next day it's back to "Limited Access". I usually just restart my network adapter and at times I re-install my wireless card. I obviously cannot access the router so I would appreciate if someone can give me a solution in which I would not have to. Been searching all over the internet for a solution but most of them just say to access the router and input some stuff...Please help. Thanks!

    Oh and I'm running Windows 7 x64
    Dell XPS 17

    slimsoul,
    Welcome to SevenForums.

When you see that "limited access", if you just wait, does it go away and give you a connection.

Is this a brand new problem with this computer?

Are you in an area where there is a Starbucks or even a beer joint that has wifi (you would be surprised how many do.)?

If yes, than go there and see if you can connect.

    Need your specs before continuing.
    thanks,

    Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
    (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
    “system manufacturer” block, for example,
    Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

Thank you karlsnooks for responding. I had to keep uninstalling my Wireless adapter driver in until it finally worked. If I go back to school tomorrow it will say limited access again. I'm looking for permanent solutions not quick fixes.

    My specs are as follows:

    OS
    MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

    MS Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
    CPU
    Intel Core i7 @ 2.00GHz
    Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology
    RAM
    6.00 GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 665MHz (9-9-9-24)
    Motherboard
    Dell Inc. 0K4H3G (CPU)
    Graphics
    Generic PnP Monitor (1600x900@60Hz)
    (Illegal Vendor ID)
    Hard Drives
    488GB Seagate ST9500420AS (SATA)
    Optical Drives
    Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5540H
    Audio
    Realtek High Definition Audio
    It's a laptop

Also, there are no wifi hotspots around the area from what I know. Just a whole bunch of clothing departments.

Where are you that there are no wifi hotspots around?

You do know that you can use google to inform you of wifi hotspots in your area.

Im at a college campus..it's deep in the forest so the only wifi around are local wifi which pretty much have passwords. To reach a hotspot I would have to drive outside the school which I dont have the power to do.
