Windows 7 Shared Printer to Windows XP Box

    Hi all,

I am trying to share a HP Laserjet 4250n ( USB Dot4 ) from a windows 7 64Bit OS to users that are running Windows XP SP3 32 Bit. I have the correct 32 bit driver added on the windows 7 Box for the XP users that connect up to the printer. When i type in the IP to connect up to the printer it keeps asking me for a driver.
Even though i have the correct driver on the XP system, it still does not reconize it.

Do anyone have any thoughts on this issue, im stumped lol

    Thanks

Have you tried using the "Add Device" option instead of "Add Printer" option? That has worked for me in the past when I couldn't get a shared printer to install correctly. Why it worked, I have no idea, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Unlike in Windows 7 (which will kindly help you install the right driver if you don't have it), you might need to install the correct driver on the XP machine before attempting to connect to the printer.

Maybe you can explain the exact steps you take to connect to the shared printer on the Win 7 machine and provide a screenshot(s) of the error(s) you're getting.

In the meantime, you might want to check out these for some hints/tricks:
