Finding network passwords - not for router

I'm sure the explanation is on the site but can't find it.

A friend bought a new computer Win7 and his wife also has a Win7 computer.

I had them "seeing" each others files/folders when clicking on "Network" in Windows Explorer.

When I installed the new computer it asked me for her "Network" password. (Not "Home group" and not wireless)

I don't know how to find her password and also his.

    Found this:

    Control Panel
    Change advanced sharing settings
    Turnoff password protected sharing

but I'll have to get LogMeIn enabled or get to their house to test it.

Did the above and "shared" folders with Full permission and got all but one folder working. Good enough for now.

Is there a way of "legally" getting their Usernames and passwords?
